A big thankyou to all who came to the Croydon Doll Show. Had a great time down there

On the way to Croydon, I took a detour to Bright, what a beautiful countryside we have!!! I went to Cindy Cherry's Scrapbooking shop 'Little Shoppe of Memories'. What an oasis in that town, the shop was full of so many goodies, I didn't know where to look. I tried to talk her into coming with me.. almost, almost...she was very tempted, but hubby had been away so she felt she should stay home.

She did have some of her great bears & dogs for sale in the shop.

If ever you do have time to go that way, you won't be dissappointed, Geoff & I will certainly be going down there for a weekend

We had a great UFO weekend in Canberra doing noses and noses and noses and of course other bear sewing, but lots of fun. Krafty Frog from Kanbam ACT opened their wonderful workshop room to us. What a great shop....if you need threads and other goodies, go & check them out

When Maggie who is in Year 7 asked me if I would teach her to make a bear, I was alittle apprehensive, knowing the concentration span of people at that age. Well wasn't I proved wrong. The bear was made for Maggie's sister 21st present and what a great job she did, all by herself by hand with a little guidance from me. I felt ever so proud of her

Mildura people, what a great show you had last weekend. The bear competition was fantastic
As I have said many times, this show is so uplifting. The locals support us so much, it is a pleasure to trade here

Bear makers you should enter, there were well over 60 entries, from Youngsters to Seniors

It is lovely to catch up with Annette Henderson, Adele (Serendipity), Margo (Tipperary Teddies),Barb McDonald (who is also going to let us sell some of her great patterns) and of course Kerrie & Lesley. It is just like one big family especially when we go out to dinner

OUR CLEVER LADIES

How clever are our ladies. Each entrant was awarded a blue ribbon at the Penrith show last weekend & one of the ladies even got the bear of the show. Congratulations ladies, I am so proud of you.

Our first day of the friendship bear happened last Monday, all cutout bears were delivered in brown paper bags and were then handed out. This week the head & ears need to be sewn.

Next weekend we will be in Mildura at the Lutheran School Hall, Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th. This Doll & Bear show is a favourite of mine, all the people really appreciate that you're there and the ladies of the committee make such yummy lunches, and morning & afternoon teas It is worth the trip, just for the food.... hehe

MONDAY LADIES

How is this for a Birthday cake. It tasted as good as it looked

We are so blessed to have such a fantastic group of ladies that come on a Monday.

It was three of our ladies birthdays so we decided to have a birthday party

One was 80, another 70 and another 60 odd.

Fortunately age is no barrier for bear making or friendship

We have also put out a challenge to each lady to see who can make the smallest bear/ critter.

We have given everyone to the end of August to see what they can do

Another idea that Dale has suggested, is a frienship bear. Eight ladies have taken up this challenge

On the first day each lady brings their cut out bear in a paper bag with no picture, then they choose another bag & sew up the head, the next week we all do something else. It will take seven weeks to finish the bear with each person having a part of everyone's bear

Can't wait to see how all the bears turn out.

Stay tuned & we will show you the results.

Wow, what a fantastic time we had in Canberra. Thanks to Fran & her Mum for opening their house to us.

Chewy has now been done in Canberra, Melbourne & Sydney. He has been quite a jet setter.

Susan also is doing a workshop in Adelaide in July, so if you are interested in joining her their let us know & we will add you to the list

At the end of the day, this was just the way we felt, "show me the coffee"

After getting over the Sydney Teddy Bear Fair, I finally had a good look at the Babushka Dolls that Lyn Parker made for me & also what she will be doing in her workshop. They are absolutely devine. The blue doll is 7cm tall, the yellow is 5.5cm & the baby just 4.5cm.
Lyn's workshop is on Saturday 16th April. Cost:$100.00. So if you are into miniatures, come & join us

Hi all,
Just letting you know that we are home safely.Thanks for all the enquiries about our holidays. We were fortunate enough not to be held up anywhere. One Grandma & her 21yr old granddaughter from South Africa were held up for three days in the airport at Frankfurt. (they were flying onto Arkansaw) They didn't have a German Visa, so weren't allowed out of the airport. They slept on stretchers and had water & bread rolls for the whole time they were there. By the time we were ready to fly out, the weather was fine.
The snow for us was just beautiful at Dusseldorf (as pictured in the main street.)
I won't bore you with alot of stories but over the next couple of days will tell you a little bit of the great time we had.
If ever you get a chance to visit Schulte, go.... Unfortunately the mohair process was closed (as they were on the C'mas break) but Mr Wanning opened the factory especially for us & gave us a personal tour. It was just amazing to see all the steps and machinery that makes the fur

Thank you Adelaide people for supporting us.The hospitality of our friends was just marvellous.

We stayed with Annette & Phil at Goolwa. Their place was so relaxing, we could have stayed for days, but our shop was calling us...

The trip to Adelaide was just beautiful, the landscape was awash with yellow, purple, pink & white colors

Fortunately we were too early for the locusts, but our van was covered in insects etc. Poor Geoff, he had a big job getting it clean again

They will both be seen on 16th October on Sydney Weekender at 5.30pm as a prelude for the Teddys Bear Picnic to be held on Sunday 17th Oct.

Last Saturday a TV crew came to our shop and filmed Susan Leigh showing Leah the Presenter (a former Miss Australia no less) how to make a bear. They also spoke to Marjorie, finishing off Lyn Parker's Booby Lady,(can't wait to see what they show), Fred finishing off his black cat. Thanks also to Anna, Annette, Bonnie, Judith, Monica, & Lorraine for joining in the fun.

It was a great experience 3 1/2hrs filming for a three minute segment.

AGQUIP AT GUNNEDAH

Well, what an experience.
It was the biggest show that thay have had. If you walked up one lane then came down the next you would have walked 14kms.
I was in the shopping arcade with about another 100 exhibitors. Tuesday & Wednesday bright sunny days then on Thursday (the last day) it rained, and of course that was also packing up day. Trolley wouldn't work because of mud etc. so after about 30 trips to & from the van, I finally packed up
The scenery around Gunnedah, Scone etc was just beautiful and of course country people are just so friendly. I would certainly recommend a trip out that way. Thank you again for the people that came and chatted

'I'VE BEEN EVERYWHERE'

Look what happened last weekend while I was in Canberra. Four little Georgettes were coming to life with another four happening on Thursday.

A big thank you to everyone for making my time in Tasmania & Canberra so great.

In Tassie, David & Pauline took me to Teddies on the Green, where I caught up with Toni. What a great little shop she has in the middle of the Park. If you are down in Richmond call in & say HI She is more than willing to start up bear classes down there.

In Canberra it was nice to catch up with Deb who unfortunately for us and her little bear group is moving to Nelson Bay. A farewell party was organised for her on the Wednesday night when I arrived. I met up with her ladies and saw the great bears that they were making.

I really enjoy going to shows and catching up with everyone, they certainly appreciate you going to their towns and showing them the latest techniques and goodies

Next week I will be in Gunnedah at Agquip, so please come and visit.

Last weekend these ladies finished their Edwina's worshop

Although I was away at Penrith Doll & Bear show, I heard that everyone had a great time. Thanks Lorraine for another great workshop.

On Wednesday, one of our favourite ladies had an operation on her finger, she thought she had just cut it but on further investigations it was found that she had actually cut through to the tendon and had to go to hospital. Poor Dale, she has been told no sewing for 2 months, but I am sure she will still come & give us cheek on a Monday

It was lovely to see Leanne from Melbourne at Merilyn's E.E.N. class on Saturday. Merilyn also showed us her new design which is just beautiful. As you can see she has shoes and socks. The socks are part of her leg. We will have her all kitted up for Gold Coast Convention and by that time she might even have a partner!!!!!

Thank you Melbourne people for coming to the Stitches & Craft show and supporting us. You were able to see Monica's new creations. They are so cute. We were able to get more supplies of flowers to decorate the pincushions and also some beautiful velvet ribbon that would look just great on them

MONDAY LADIES

What a fantastic group of ladies we have coming each Monday.

This is just some of the ones that come each week

Most family members know not to ask for any favours on Mondays as that is their teddy bear day

They also put $5.00 into the Children's Hospital tin & so far we have given over $5000 to the hospital

Dale & Kristine organised a great day getting all the ladies to bring one of their first made bears and then everyone guess who had made them

and then we photographed them holding their bears plus their most current one they are working on

If anyone would like to join this group just come on any Monday from 10.30am and bring teddys to work on (you might be laughing so much that you don't have time to sew)

We have just received some lovely laces & motifs that you can use to enhance your bears when hand painted. Merilyn & her daughter(it must be in the genes) have used them on their bears.

On Sunday, we visited Karen Haskew from Hazee Bears who moved from the big smoke to Ellenborough. Port Macquarie people what a goldmine you have here. She is now stocking our mohair, patterns, tools etc. Her workshop is to die for, the countryside view from her windows is just awesome, and what is even better than that, she will share it with us. She is starting to do workshops and if there is a group of people who would like to have a de-stressing weekend away we can even arrange that.

What a busy time we have had

This workshop with Merilyn just grew and grew. A couple of ladies wanted Merilyn to teach them faces on Monday, a few more heard about it and all of a sudden we had eight ladies making these bears

The moral to that story is if there is a couple of people wanting to learn something from Susan or Merilyn, just let us know and we can organise it
